Cragside cottage, created by the sympathetic conversion
of a former barn, accommodates up to six persons.
Sleeping accommodation
is all on the ground floor, and comprises two double-bedded rooms
and one twin-bedded room. Also on
the ground
floor is the bathroom and toilet. Open roof beams and part exposed
stonework add character to the spacious (approx llm x 5m) living
room and kitchen area on the first floor, which has some fine
views towards the southwest. There is also a second toilet and
shower
room on this floor. Equipment includes electric oven and hob,
microwave, fridge with freezing compartment, dishwasher, automatic
washing
machine and colour TV. The cottage has full oilfired central
heating and fitted carpets throughout.
Outside is a south facing paved patio area; garden
chairs and charcoal barbecue grill are available if required.
Guests
are free
to roam over the seven acres of fellside which adjoin the cottage,
provided that gates, fences, dry-stone walls are not damaged
or animals disturbed. Views from the Crag, the small rocky ridge
just
behind the cottage, can be stunning in good weather conditions.
Children must be supervised on the crag, as there are potentially
dangerous rock faces.
The cottage is personally supervised by the owners who live in
the adjoining farmhouse.
The cottage is normally only available for weekly,
Saturday to Saturday lets, but out of season and for non-peak weeks
it may be available for 3 or 4 day shorst breaks which start on
Saturdays (3 nights) or Tuesdays (4 nights).
Please note that we
do not allow smoking or pets within the cottage. We
can
provide
secure,
warm
and dry
accommodation
for dogs in a former byre.
